The Vienna Laboratory for Microarchaeology is based in the Department of Evolutionary Anthropology, Faculty of Life Sciences. We are concerned with the sedimentary context of the archaeological and paleoanthropological record. We employ a microcontextual approach to reconstruct the formation history of Pleistocene sites, to study the sedimentary record of fire use and to investigate the formation history of sediment ancient DNA.
